Madhur (Multicut Fodder Seeds)
Madhur, also known as Nutrifeed Forage, is a premium multicut fodder variety designed for repeated harvests with 50% higher biomass yield than SSG products. It offers excellent drought tolerance, no risk of prussic acid poisoning, high protein content (12-16% crude protein), and exceptional palatability with 61.3% IVMD (In Vitro Matter Digestibility).
Key Features
- High Biomass Yield (50% more than SSG products), Suitable for Multi-cutting
- Drought tolerant once established
- No risk of prussic acid poisoning and is suitable for early feeding
- High Protein and Nutrient Value (12-16% crude protein)
- High palatability
- IVMD 61.3%
- High metabolizable energy
- Tolerant to most pests and diseases with negligible investment for their control
- Provides disease and pest free green forage for better health of animals
- High digestibility requires less feed quantity per animal
- High nutritional fodder helps in better health of animals
- Yield: approximately 4-6 tonnes per hectare per cut
- Seed rate: 30-35 kg per hectare
Growing Information
Growing Conditions
Thrives in warm, dry conditions (20-30°C) and can grow in a range of soils, with sandy loam being ideal (pH 5.5-7.0). Sown post-monsoon (August-September) or in summer (February-May).
Yield Estimates
Approximate yield 4-6 tonnes per hectare per cut, with up to 30-50 tonnes of green fodder per hectare cumulative over multiple cuts; first harvest in 50-55 days.
Packaging & Usage
Seed rate: 30-35 kg per hectare with row to row spacing of 30 cm and plant to plant spacing of 25 cm.

Agronomy & Management
Soil
Can be grown well on a wide range of soil types. Soil pH should be 5.5 to 7.0. Avoid acidic and saline soils. Well-drained soils yield better.
Water & Irrigation
Tolerant to drought but should be irrigated before 7 days intervals in summer and 12 days intervals in the rainy season. For better palatability, crop should have high moisture. Sufficient irrigation will boost healthy and expected bio-mass yield.
Sowing
Preparation
Prepare a good seedbed for good germination and root development. Where irrigation is available, better establishment will be obtained by pre-watering and sowing into moisture, rather than watering after sowing.
Sowing Depth
Sowing depth 3-5 cm with soil covering for compaction
Spacing
Row to Row Spacing is 30 cm and Plant to Plant is 25 cm
Sowing Methods
- •Ridges & Furrows: For staggered sowing, harvesting, irrigation and fertigation
- •Blocks Method: Harvest the fodder as per requirement and irrigate the same block
Sowing Time
Seed Rate
30-35 kg per hectare
Harvesting
Can cut and feed at any time but 1 meter to 1.2 meters is idle height to get more benefits from green fodder in terms of nutritive values. Should be cut 6 to 8 inches above ground level when harvesting to promote faster re-growth for multi-cut.
Post-Cutting Activities
Apply adequate nitrogen and water for the regeneration of fresh leaves and stems.
Fertilizer
Use according to soil test results. Recommended: N-30 Kg (60 Kg Urea), P-25 Kg (45 Kg DAP or 120 kg SSP), K-10 Kg (20 Kg Potash) per Acre. Adequate nitrogen ensures fast growth and quick recovery after cutting. Apply Nitrogen as a top dressing for optimum benefit.
Weed Control
Weeds can be easily controlled by spraying 1 Kg Atrazine 50% WP per 1 acre.
Pest & Disease Management
No significant pests and diseases have been observed. Follow guidelines of company executive for control measures if needed.
